"FORESIGHT is a fast, fun read. A fantastical story that is wonderfully descriptive. Grace is a very interesting character. Strong with a great personality. Very mature when her world is turned upside down, but also fun and snarky too. I also loved that there was a mix of the fae and Greek Mythology. If your a fan of either, I think your really gonna enjoy this story." ~ reviewed by Anna Vivian Blogspot (09/2010) FIVE STARS "From the very beginning (of FORESIGHT), the author enchants her readers. The nonstop action, suspense mixed with the Greek Mythology are sure to win over readers of all ages, young and old. I loved the mini-romance that took place between Grace and Chris. I don't know what Ms. Ficklin has in store next for these two, but I love drama and I can't help but wonder what consequences Grace and Chris will have to deal with in the upcoming saga of The Gods of Fate." ~ reviewed by Book Lovers, Inc. (09/2010) FIVE STARS "I really enjoyed this book. I've read it three times and am on my fourth. Sherry Ficklin's writing takes you into a different world. I especially like spunky main characters. Cannot wait for the next installment!!" ~ reviewed by R. Stevenson (08/2010) FIVE STARS "I just finished reading this book a few hours ago and am already anticipating books two and three! It was a quick, but exciting read that kept me interested from start to finish. The character descriptions, as well as the descriptions in general, painted a vivid picture in my mind and allowed me a glimpse into the authors imagination. This is certainly a novel I would and could recommend to friends and family of all ages. I recommend ordering this book or purchasing it from a store near you soon! Hopefully they don't wait too long to release SECONDSIGHT. I'm ready for it already!" ~ reviewed by Scudhunt (08/2010) FIVE STARS "Even at Chapter-1 of FORESIGHT, the author Sherry D Ficklin captured this reader's attention to the point of letting the wonderful latte I was sipping go quite cold as I continued to read into the following chapters. It is refreshing to find an author who can write not only to obtain the attention of a younger audience, but as a full-fledged grown adult I found the writing more than just entertaining. This first of the God's of Fate Trilogy is a wonderfully refreshing read that is well-written and interesting from beginning to end. I personally can't wait for the second release of the series!" ~ reviewed by Robin R. Clark (08/2010) FIVE STARS "I loved this story! I was hooked from the start. It's an "I don't want to put it down until the end, I can sleep tomorrow!" kind of book that leaves you looking for the sequel so you can spend more time with the characters. If you haven't read this one - GO GET IT! Sherry Ficklin created fantastic characters. Phoenix is the woman we all want to be, Chris is the man we all want to love, and Grace is that teenager that possesses all the fire we want our kids to have! Lilith is the bad guy we all love to hate and her minions are the kind of blind evil who’s death’s we wait for and cheer about! I was thrilled with the addition of the gods and the personalities that each one has, Hermes is a stitch! There are too many characters to talk about them all. So, instead of telling you more about each great character, let me just say that she builds characters that are easy to invest in. She puts these incredible characters into wonderfully descriptive settings with details that make both the human world and the Fae world come alive for the reader. I can't wait for book two, I wish it was already out so I didn't have to wait! I am excited that there will be a book three as well, because then I know I have a chance to get to know more of the characters than I have already gotten to meet." ~ reviewed by The Wormhole "A sweet, compelling story of love, loss, the future, and discovering the truth about yourself are all at the core of Sherry Ficklin’s Foresight. The story of Grace Archer is a fascinating view of the Pandora myth. Finding out your mother was Pandora and you’ve inherited a box containing the power to destroy everything is a lot to take in for a new high school graduate. To top it off all of this knowledge comes at the hand of a crazy demi-goddess who wants you dead to gain control of the box. Grace also discovers she has her own latent powers that have surged into wakefulness because of the stress of the situation. In her journey to save herself and keep the box hidden, Grace learns there’s more to her aunt Phoenix and finds her own love in Chris. This is a well-developed story with carefully crafted characters that make you cheer, laugh, cry, and want to see standing at the end of the battle. I’m sure there will be more to come as Grace continues on her journey. Ms. Ficklin melded together the different mythologies in a believable and intriguing world. Foresight is refreshing and well worth the read." ~ reviewed by The Readers Roundtable "All hail Greek mythology! I gotta say first off that I'm one of those people that never quite understood mythology. But what did Miss Anti-Mythology find herself doing while reading FORESIGHT? That's right, I was looking stuff up, soaking up info with gusto. I couldn't help myself! Ms. Ficklin made mythology seem so interesting and you know what? It really is!" ~ reviewed by Jennifer Pickrell (08/2010) "FORESIGHT, Book I in the Gods of Fate Trilogy, by Sherry Ficklin is a refreshing new edition to the YA fantasy genre. Sherry handles the coming-of-age story of Grace Archer with humour, intelligence and a beautifully imagined mythology. Feisty Grace battles evil, goes toe-to-toe with arrogant ancient gods, and struggles to come to terms with her growing magical powers, all the while falling in love with a most delicious faerie imagined. FORESIGHT's appeal crosses all age groups and has enough nail-biting drama and heartbreak to have you turning the pages and wanting more. FORESIGHT definitely earns a rating of 5 out of 5 and I am very much looking forward to Book 2 and the return to Grace Archer's epic story." ~ reviewed by Lora Deeprose (07/2010) FIVE STARS "FORESIGHT is eloquently written with a well organized manner, which is sure to attract readers of any age or genre preference into stepping into the shoes of Grace Archer. Mrs. Ficklin writes with pure soul and her readers can tell that she, herself, stepped into the land of Fae and conversed with the fairies, gods and goddesses! More, more, more Mrs. Ficklin. My bookshelf is screaming Grace Archer." ~ Carl Franklin, author of Bloodlines, Legacy, and Monetary (07/2010) FIVE STARS "If you like mythology, fast-paced fighting scenes, and emotional romances, all with some juicy gossip, this is the book for you. I personally guarantee you will enjoy it!" ~ Addrienne VanOver [2010] FOUR STARS "If you like mythology, fast-paced fighting scenes, and emotional romances, all with some juicy gossip, this is the book for you. I personally guarantee you will enjoy it!" ~ reviewed by Wendi Haas for Aurora Reviews (09/2010) FOUR STARS "Although I have little personal interest in mythology and the Greek Gods, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and a pleasure to read. Girls will especially be drawn to the romantic nature of the story." ~ reviewed by Goodreads (2010) FOUR STARS "I have always been a big fan of Greek Mythology and Pandora's Box is one of my favorite stories. So, when I first got this book from the author for review, I was really excited. The Gods of Fate series is based on characters we are all familiar with from our school years. I think that a lot of readers will really enjoy this new take on the old stories." ~ reviewed by Debbie's Bookbag (08/2010) FOUR STARS "FORESIGHT is book #1 in The Gods Of Fate trilogy. I really liked how it starts off at Grace’s graduation with her thoughts on what for her, is a mundane process to be endured. Then the s#%t hits the fan, so to speak, and its non-stop action from there. Grace is a fun, fresh character with a lot of resilience and determination... It’s a great story and I am really looking forward to the next book in the trilogy, SECONDSIGHT, due out Sept 2011." ~ reviewed by Sidhe Vicious Reviews (08/2010) FOUR STARS "(FORESIGHT) starts very quickly and throws the reader into the midst of a plot filled with action... The author has chosen a great storyline to weave in countless characters, plots, problems and disasters, love, wars, and parallel worlds. It wasn’t bogged down with too much description, something that can drive me crazy in other fantasy stories. The only drawback to the book is that it was over too quickly for me. I could have eagerly read another couple hundred pages and still want more." ~ reviewed by Jessica for BookSake (08/2010) FOUR STARS "Sherry Ficklin's FORESIGHT gave me one of the most enjoyable reads I've had in months. Paying homage to the fairy tales of old, FORESIGHT follows the protagonist and recent high school graduate, Grace Archer, on an adventure I wouldn't mind having myself... Anyone looking for a new heroine to travel with will find a great companion within the pages of FORESIGHT." ~ reviewed by Sara Messina for Mind Fog Reviews (07/21/2010) FOUR STARS |
