A freak thunderstorm deposits Robert Trevor and his restored World War II F6F Hellcat fighter plane in a cornfield far from 21st century Kansas. He soon realizes he is lost in a land mired in a medieval caste system. When a wily wizard coerces him into helping the local people fight a merciless enemy, Robert enlists the magical help of a beautiful green-skinned elven named Jenny. Before he can search for a way home, he has to survive air battles with fire-breathing dragons and learn the truth about the world into which he has flown.

"
FLIGHT OF THE HELLCAT was a very intriguing story that--once I started reading--engrossed me to the end.  In a time that has never seen aircraft these people are in awe of it and frightened. Robert sees exactly what this new world entails but with the help of Jenny and everyone he comes into contact with, he is about to change every ideal they have had for years.  A thoroughly enjoyable book that captures the imagination and sets right what is wrong" ~ Sheryl for Coffee Time Romance (2004) FOUR STARS

"Robert Trevor never planned to crash-land his F6F Hellcat into a farmer's cornfield somewhere near Topeka, Kansas.  That frustration is nothing compared to the jolt he gets when he finds himself in a strange, non-technological world. No one speaks his language, and certainly nobody has parts for his rebuilt WW-II airplane. As he can't get his plane out of the cornfield until harvest, it only makes sense to help Kaylee, the widow who runs the farm with the help of her kids.  He doesn't realize a clash between local warlords has created a very real danger for Kaylee's family, the farm, and the entire community. Robert must fly his new family to safety. In the process, he finds himself right smack-dab in the middle of the warring factions as both sides envision the addition of the Hellcat to their battles of sword and sorcery... I was impressed by the way he handled the concept of bigotry without vilifying or sanctifying characters on either side of the age-old problem. His characters are people, combining warts, sulks, and sweetness in a convincing fashion.  While the story changes direction several times, it doesn't drag or lose interest.  Even now, a couple of weeks after I read it,
FLIGHT OF THE HELLCAT lingers in my mind.  If you enjoy adventure novels with a spice of culture clash, you'll enjoy FLIGHT OF THE HELLCAT." ~ Jannette Murray for eBook Reviews Weekly (2004)

"
FLIGHT OF THE HELLCAT is a captivating story that will entertain a variety of readers with its blend of futuristic magic and historic piloting details.  The interesting twist of romance keeps the pages turning for all." ~ Chaos Arts Reviews (03/26/2004)

"I am very glad I picked up
FLIGHT OF THE HELLCAT.  The story line kept my interest, and Mr. Cross really knows his planes.  I would recommend this book to anyone." ~ Dr. Dick Confer (2004)
